Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Fire and Smoke Dampers

Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection

A device installed in an air distribution system and designed to close automatically upon detection of heat and/or smoke, to interrupt migratory airflow, and to restrict the passage of flame and/or smoke.

As of January 1, 2022, inspection and testing of fire dampers and smoke dampers must be conducted by individuals certified by the International Certification Board and accredited by the American National Standards Institute in HVAC fire life safety or another nationally recognized certifying body accredited to ISO/IEC 17024 in HVAC fire life safety.

For more information about the law, please see the Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection Act (425 ILCS 13).
