Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection

A device installed in an air distribution system and designed to close automatically upon detection of heat and/or smoke, to interrupt migratory airflow, and to restrict the passage of flame and/or smoke.

As of January 1, 2022, inspection and testing of fire dampers and smoke dampers must be conducted by individuals certified by the International Certification Board and accredited by the American National Standards Institute in HVAC fire life safety or another nationally recognized certifying body accredited to ISO/IEC 17024 in HVAC fire life safety.
